This program is available for On Leash Obedience graduates or can be completed back to back with On Leash obedience.
Dogs are tested in their reliability to perform the following On Leash obedience commands with 3 parts to each exercise; duration, distance, and distraction. The On Leash commands your dog must be proficient in are PLACE, SIT, DOWN, (IMPLIED) STAY, COME, and HEEL.
The purpose for this requirement is that we do not use the Dogtra e-collar to punish a dog. Rather, we use the e-collar with the known commands, only. By not using the e-collar as a punishment, we build trust, encourage learning and the result is increased confidence. Off Leash training is critical for nervous dogs to gain confidence and energetic and athletic dogs thrive with the new opportunities for exercise!
Off Leash training is the ultimate way to provide your dog with freedom while still maintaining their safety. Enjoy trail hiking, biking, dog play groups, fetch, and field running while maintaining an element of control to ensure a safe and fun experience for your dog, yourself, and others out enjoying the same activities as you.
While Off Leash sounds really cool outside, keep in mind that it is amazing inside the home as well. You will have hands-free reliability with your dog doing the place command while you eat, the come command when they are out of sight, and the down command that can be used to prevent begging.
Dogs must be 6 months age or older. Veterinary requirements are DHPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccine, Rabies vaccine, and Fecal float plus Giardia antigen snap test (negative result). Dogs must be on a veterinary approved flea/tick preventive and heartworm preventive.
Board & Train is the most immersive experience for your dog to learn Off Leash obedience commands with experienced, professional trainers and in the company of many other dogs. Your dog will spend upwards of a week just learning the concept of the e-collar before we utilize it with their known obedience commands.
Group Class is a wonderful option for those who have a significant amount of time during the week to prioritize training. This class is harder than On Leash, but with your dedication you will enjoy the results!
