Facilities sometimes have special needs of love and comfort only a canine companion can provide, such as family court, domestic crisis safe havens, schools, or rehabilitation centers. Facility dogs are trained to live on-site or go to work each day, providing love and support to all residents.
Appalachian Dog Training LLC trains facility dogs above and beyond the suggested standards required of full time facility dogs. Our dogs are a reflection of our hard work and commitment to ensuring a lifelong partnership with you and your community! Our puppies are selected from stock with excellent temperament and heath clearances. They begin their training the day of arrival which includes yummy treats, handling, socializing, field trips, training, puppy play and so much more. They are not raised by volunteers, they live with with our experienced trainer from start to finish. Our puppies stay with us until training is complete, up to 2 years!
We are absolutely equal-opportunity in selecting our applicants, however, the nature of the Facilitator's role does require hearing, vision, and cognitive awareness to ensure the safe and effective handling of the facility dog around clients and staff.
